The Village of Dahshur is situated almost 40 kilometers southwest of Cairo. The curved pyramid at Dahshur was erected in the late 27th century BC by King Sneferu, father of King Khufu, who built the Great Pyramid of Giza. It was the first built by Pharaoh Sneferu, it bears the name because it was unfinished and had to be rebuilt, but the king decided to leave it as is. The pyramid is located on the same site as the Red Pyramid, near the necropolis of the city of Dahshur.
